My own little cloud
I would rather own the things I depend on than rent them. So instead of handing my photos, files, passwords and conversations to someone else’s cloud, one machine runs my own versions of all of them, plus the sites I build for clients and the AI I build for myself.
Immich
22,714 photos and 4,470 videos, with face and object search running on my own GPU.
Nextcloud
My files, synced through my own cloud instead of someone else’s.
Bitwarden
The official Bitwarden server, all eleven containers of it.
Matrix
Encrypted chat and video calls, on Synapse, Element and LiveKit.
OpenRouteService
Routing for Hungary, the Netherlands and Ireland: where I grew up, where I study, and where I am on exchange.
Postfix and Dovecot
About 124 deliveries a day and 172 spam messages caught this week, all scanned against 3.6 million virus signatures.
Where AlfyAI lives
AlfyAI runs on the two Blackwell GPUs in this machine. One card holds the language model and its 262,144-token context, about two novels at once. The other runs embeddings, a reranker, document parsing and image generation.
Speculative decoding drafts tokens ahead and keeps about half of them, so every step writes 2.6 tokens on average. Getting here took four inference engines: Ollama, SGLang, TensorRT-LLM and now vLLM. Web search, geocoding and routing run alongside, so AlfyAI can use them as tools.
What runs on it
41 containers next to native services: web hosting for 31 sites, DNS for 18 domains, mail, and everything above.
Keeping it alive
- 4.1Bots try the front door all day. fail2ban watches 13 services and banned 3,152 addresses in eight days.
- 4.2Every site on SSL/TLS through Virtualmin, and DNS for 18 domains from my own BIND server.
- 4.3Mail signed with DKIM, filtered by SpamAssassin and scanned by ClamAV.
- 4.4Moved from Ubuntu to AlmaLinux in March 2026.
- 4.564 Docker images, 93 GB of them, each stack on its own network.
