The proposal

Het Gele Laarsje is a monthly children’s clothes swap in Leeuwarden. Inside a team of six, I researched, designed and built the whole proposal myself.

The client approved the direction and decided against a new website, because she had other problems to solve first. What exists is a complete proposal and a prototype you can click through.

What changes

2.1When and where, first

BeforeThe first screen gives the rule, every third Monday, in a paragraph. The place comes later.
AfterOne card with the next swap, the time, the place, and why it matters.

2.2A path for each reason to come

BeforeThree tabs, and the swap explained in centred paragraphs.
AfterCheck-in first, then one path each for swapping, baby clothes and repair.

2.3Sizes you can check

BeforeThe size rules are a paragraph and a picture, halfway down the swap page.
AfterA size calculator: start from your child’s current size and see which sizes you can swap into.

What I delivered

  1. —A content architecture for the whole site.
  2. —A design direction document.
  3. —A system of brand tokens.
  4. —Mobile-first CSS, organised in cascade layers.
  5. —Copy rules, each backed by a source.
  6. —A size calculator for parents.
  7. —The prototype itself, deployed as a static HTML and CSS site.
